| THE
HISTORY :
The isles are located in the very western part of the
archipelago, and they're the less visited by the mass
of the tourists becouse of their position and of the
inferior number of hotels and touristic structures. |

ALICUDI:
It was called
Ericusa, that means rich of heather; it's the very
wester of the Eolie, and it was made by some eruptions
began 160.000 years ago. The isle has a circular cone
shape, and vegetation grow up on the basaltic rocks.
The very hight part of Alicudi ends with mount Filo
dell'Arpa, 675 mts. Its surface is 5,2 kmq long and
it's 66 miles to Milazzo.

| FILICUDI:
It
was called
Phoenicusa,
that means rich of fern; The isle was inhabitated during
the prehistorical period and it has volcanic origin.
It ends with the mount Fossa Felci, 774 mts, but you
can find some really beatiful shingle beach. In Capo
Graziano there're some really interesting prehistoric
settlements of the bronze era; on the top of the Montagnola
del Capo you can find one dated 1500 a.C.
The sea trips around the isle are really interesting
and enchanting so as the underwater exursions. One of
the most beatiful is the Grotta del Bue Marino. The
iseland surface is 9,5 km long, and it's 50 miles to
Milazzo. |
