SALINA
THE HISTORY :
It was called Dydime by Greeks, that means the double; infact it's composed by two volcanic cones (mount Fossa delle Felci, 962mts, mount of the Porri, 860 mts.) divided dy a saddle. Then, they call the isle Salina becouse of the presence of the now closed saltworks of Lingua. It's the second one for extention, 26.8 kmq, and inhabitants, 2581; moreover it's the richest in vegetation; the place is still incontaminate so that a lot of migratory birds choose the isle like a transit station.
